  • Issuing Judgment and Enforcement

If the debtor has not paid after issue of court action proceedings and no defence has been filed (or the defence was struck out by a Judge) the next step available is to issue a County Court Judgment (CCJ). We can process a CCJ via the Northampton County Court Business Centre on the same day we receive your instructions.

We typically enforce the CCJ by issuing execution, if your debt is under £600, the court will immediately instruct a local County Court Bailiff, and if your debt is over £600 the Judgment is transferred to the High Court Enforcement Officer. The Bailiff or Enforcement Officer will then attend the debtor's premises and either obtain payment direct from the debtor or take control of goods to the value of the outstanding debt.

If the debtor fails to pay the CCJ within one month, this is registered and will affect the debtor's credit rating. A CCJ remains registered for 6 years, so there is a legitimate incentive for the debtor to pay promptly once Judgment has been issued.

How much will it cost?

The exact cost depends on the debt value you are claiming; please refer to our costs and fees to determine the cost to you.
